CMU’s Tuberculosis Awareness Initiative: Empowering Afghan Refugee Communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

CMU organized Tuberculosis awareness seminars in Afghan Refugee Villages in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province with a Multi-country Grant. The goal was to educate residents about TB symptoms, prevention, and treatment. The target audience comprised men, women, and children in these villages, with involvement from local leaders, teachers, religious figures, healthcare providers, and representatives from UNHCR and Afghan commissionerate.

CE SI Stakeholders Inception Meeting

The Association of people living with HIV (#APLHIV) Pakistan is set to initiate phase II of the CE SI project focusing on TB Community. The project aims on component No.2 of the Global Fund CE SI, where long term capacity will be provided to TB Community to enable the TB community to be meaningfully engaged in provincial, national and global Fund processes. The project also focuses on promoting positive community activism for a better TB response.
The objective of the stakeholders meeting was to introduce the CE SI project to the stakeholders and to explore potential avenues of collaboration and engagement. The #APLHIV shared overview of its innovative concept to implement the project in Pakistan. APLHIV will be establishing a platform to capacitate the TB community across Pakistan to be engaged meaningfully in all country and global fund related process for better TB response. The platform will work as a hub of capacity building activities.
National Coordinator Common Management Unit (CMU) Dr. Razia Fatima graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In her opening remarks she appreciated the innovative concept of the project presented by the APLHIV and thanked the APLHIV for its work. She offered her suggestions to further strengthen the project. She highlighted the need for an effective and positive community engagement in TB response and assured full support to the APLHIV.

Moreover, Winners of the Art/Poster TB competition, hosted by Pakistan Girls Guide Association with CMU and WHO, received prizes. Their artwork was displayed at WHO premises raising awareness on fighting TB. This event underscores our collective commitment to combat TB globally. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against TB.
