The National Coordinator CMU visited Active Help, an organization dedicated to community-based interventions for key populations. This visit emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing public health challenges and reinforced the commitment to supporting vulnerable communities through targeted health initiatives and interventions.
The National Coordinator CMU met with the Additional Secretary Punjab and TB Programme Manager to discuss the interoperability between HISDU and CMU surveillance systems for TB and HIV. The Punjab team expressed their willingness to support this initiative, marking a significant step towards enhanced data integration and public health management.
The IPCM was held at the Avari Hotel Lahore on the 1st and 2nd of August 2024, hosted by the Punjab AIDS Control Program. The event was attended by representatives from ACPs, CMU, Federal agencies, UNDP, UNAIDS, UNODC, WHO, Nai Zindagi Trust, and various CBOs. Notable participants included Dr. Razia Fatima , NC CMU; Deputy Director of CDC General Sindh, Dr. Zulfiqar Darejho; Dr. Rajwal, Strategic Head UNAIDS; and Heather Doyle, UNDP Country Representative. During the meeting, all participants shared their issues, progress, and plans for the way forward.
The National Coordinator CMU attended the HIV Partner Meeting at the WHO Country Office. The gathering focused on critical health issues, fostering collaboration and discussing strategies to improve public health outcomes.
The National Coordinator CMU participated in the Dialogue for Drafting HIV Legislation in ICT, a collaborative effort with UNAIDS and SDPI. This initiative aimed to create comprehensive HIV legislation, reflecting a unified commitment to addressing the epidemic through inclusive policies and ensuring the rights and health of those affected.
The National Coordinator CMU and her team met with provincial colleagues and UNDP to discuss targets and assumptions for forecasting and quantification for HIV Grant Making 2025-2026. The agenda included finalizing targets, HPMT, and budgets ahead of the Global Fund submission deadline. The meeting on July 29, 2024, ensured complementarity and budget alignment, featuring presentations from each Principal Recipient (PR) and UNDP. Provincial Managers, PDs, and partners were requested to attend the meeting in person to facilitate comprehensive discussions.
As part of the ITNS Campaign 2024 in District Badin, CMU Malaria team conducted HHR monitoring in UC Pir Lashari, Village Muhammad Hussain, uncovering key issues. The team found inconsistencies in door markings and a lack of community awareness due to no mosque announcements. Prompt corrective actions were taken by CMU Malaria Team, VBD Sindh, and IHHN teams to rectify these issues, ensuring accurate data and better community engagement.
The CMU team met with DC Mirpur, DHO Mirpur, and DHO Badin to strategize HHR for the ITNS Campaign. This collaboration aims to ensure accurate household registration and effective ITN distribution, enhancing public health outcomes in the region through coordinated efforts and targeted interventions.
