In a collaborative effort, CMU, Mercy Corps, and HISP convened with Mr. Guy Stallworthy from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to review the TB Tracker initiative. National Coordinator CMU kicked off the meeting, and Mr. Guy shared insights on the BMGF grant’s progress, drawing from his on-field experiences with TB health facilities in Pakistan. Progress updates from each partner covered achievements, challenges, and opportunities. The session included discussion on action points for future meetings, reprogramming possibilities, and concluded with a focus on enhanced collaboration and strategic planning. Together, the teams aim to achieve realistic milestones in the process of digitilization TB patient tracking system by 2024.

In a collaborative stride toward eradicating malaria, the National Coordinator and her CMU team met with the Global Fund Country team. Together, they reviewed past achievements, addressing challenges, and discussed a strategic plan for the upcoming grant cycle to ensure successful implementation. The meeting emphasized seizing opportunities for a more resilient malaria control in Pakistan.

During a recent monitoring visit, the Global Fund Country Team, alongside the CMU team, inspected healthcare initiatives in District Multan and Faisalabad, Punjab. This collaborative effort ensures effective implementation, evaluates progress, and strengthens the commitment to advancing health outcomes in the region.

The National Coordinator of CMU, along with her dedicated team, recently convened with the Global Fund Country team. The meeting centered on reviewing the accomplishments of the prior grant cycle and providing a comprehensive update on preparations for the upcoming cycle. Emphasis was placed on addressing challenges and leveraging opportunities to ensure a successful implementation.

The Global Fund Country Team, along with the Common Management Unit (CMU) team, conducted a visit to RHC Tarlai on January 18, 2024. During the visit, they assessed health facility conditions, interacted with patients, and demonstrated a commitment to community well-being by visiting a TB patient at her home. On January 17, 2024, CMU witnessed a strategic collaboration between the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and Surveillance Unit, along with the Chemonics team. The pivotal discussion centered on the seamless integration of programmatic data via DHIS2 with the warehouse system. Delving into API integration for smooth collaboration, the meeting also underscored the training of provincial staff, aiming to enhance system efficiency for a more robust healthcare management structure.

Dr. Razia Kaneez Fatima, National Coordinator (CMU), chaired the pivotal inaugural meeting for World TB Day 2024, emphasizing its importance in advancing the National TB Program’s goals for ending TB by 2035. The TB day preparatory meeting took place in CMU with key stakeholders  and CMU management. Dr Razia’s leadership ensured that preparations for World TB Day activities are in full swing, reinforcing the collective commitment to achieve a TB-free world.

Secretary Health, Mr. Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, recently visited CMU, where the National Coordinator, Dr. Razia Fatima, provided a comprehensive overview of the institution’s operations. Focusing on three critical diseases—TB, Malaria, and HIV/AIDS—Dr. Razia highlighted the remarkable achievements from the previous grant and outlined ambitious plans for the upcoming cycle. The meeting, attended by CMU management, served as a platform for collaborative discussions and strategic planning to strengthen CMU’s impact in combating these diseases.

During the visit, Secretary Health, Mr. Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, engaged in discussions that extended beyond disease management. Notably, he addressed the crucial matter of human resources, emphasizing the significance of the workforce. The Secretary delved into discussions on HR salaries, acknowledging their pivotal role. In a promising commitment, he assured improvements in remuneration to further motivate and retain skilled professionals.

The visit underscored the commitment to public health and the collective effort towards achieving significant milestones in disease prevention and management.
